Hear about some first time experiences of meditating under the waves.

  • I did the meditation diving course with Marina in October 2024. It was a transformative experience. It guided me to an inner place of calm and emotional connection with myself that I hadn’t accessed before. It’s hard to put into words, I think it’s a unique combination of the ocean’s energy, which truly catalyzes introspection and deep meditative state.
I will always remember this experience and feel deeply grateful for it. It was a very challenging moment in my life, and the course helped me navigate it with peace. Gracias Marina, for your professionalism, warm patience, and contagious love for what you do.

  • I had the pleasure of joining a meditation dive with Marina. The experience itself; meditating on the sea floor; was dreamy. But the magic wasn’t just felt underwater! The dive briefing prepared me so well for what I felt down there and the surface interval/debrief was well thought out as well. Marina has been curating her program for years and her knowledge and passion was clearly on display as she guided us skilfully into and out of a beautiful meditation. I felt so safe, connected and cared for. It’s an experience I will never forget and something I hope I get to experience again soon. If you’re hesitating on whether or not to try this- here’s your sign to dive right in. You’re in good hands

Frequently Asked Questions:

What do you do on a meditation dive?

A meditation dive combines scuba diving with mindfulness practices. Before entering the water, we start with breathwork and intention setting, focusing on relaxation and awareness. The goal isn’t to explore a site quickly, but to find stillness, presence, and connection beneath the surface. We focus on turning inward by using breathwork techniques adapted for safe diving practices and allow ourselves to be fully immersed in the nature. Every dive ends with gentle reflection and grounding before surfacing.

Does it hurt the environment?

Great question! The basis of meditation is mindfulness and respect. We carry these values into every aspect of our lives, especially during diving. I am very careful to be mindful of the environment prior to settling down to meditate. We always use the same area that is commonly used for training dives, so there are no habitats being impacted. Safety is a number one priority, not just for us but also for our fishy friends 🙂

Do I need to be certified to join a meditation dive?

Yes, you must at least have your Open Water Certification to try a meditation dive. If you’ve never tried scuba before, you can try the Discover Scuba Diving experience!

What equipment do I need?

All equipment is provided, including scuba gear and any additional tools for comfort and safety. You just need a swimsuit, a towel, and an open mind. If you have your own gear, you’re welcome to bring it — especially your mask, which often makes the experience feel more personal and relaxed.

Where do the dives take place?

Meditation dives are held in calm, shallow ocean sites either in Playa del Carmen or Cozumel. Each location is selected intentionally to create a peaceful, safe environment where you can focus on breath, buoyancy, and connection.
